My strong point

March 19th, 2009 at 03:48 pm

Rather than focusing on the negative right away, I thought I would start with my strong point in budgeting, groceries. I am an avid couponer and have been doing so for about a year now. It has saved me thousands of dollars and has drastically reduced my monthly expenses. My aim for march is to keep my budget under 100$. This includes all household, food, eating out (if we do this), pullups, toilitries, and my coupons. This also includes gardening seeds, soil if needed. Before couponing and budgeting we were spending about 400$ a month on the above items. It has only been since i have a decent stockpile that i have seen my budget drastically decrease in the past few months. Last month I was at about 160$ for the month total oop. And by all means we do not starve nor go with out items. We are not big meat eaters by choice and we only eat poultry and seafood on a rare occasion. I don't buy it much unless it is a great sale or if we have a craving for some chicken. We do eat quite a bit of eggs as they are on sale a lot and make for great stir fries, snacks, baking and even as a main course.

March oop : 54.83/100

Welcome!! Wow...that is impressive with the coupons. I wish I could do that well! I am an impulsive shopper at the grocery store...haven't found how to beat that yet, so I just try to stay away!

Welcome! I have just got into coupons myself the past few months. While it's a lot of work, boy is it worth it! Keep up the great work! That's an excellent point to start out with. Smile

    Welcome!

I've gotten away from coupons as of late. Most products with coupons do not meet my guidelines for nutrition. I will buy toilet paper with a coupon, though!

Congratulations on the couponing. I have been learning the last few months as well and routinely save 50-70% at the register, isn't it fun? I was spending about $300-400 before on everything and am now ready to see how low I can keep my bill. I think it should be fun.

    Welcome!

Congratulations on the couponing and keeping your food budget under control, especially with a child. Do you ever get coupons for stuff you don't use? Would you like to trade coupons? If so, please send me an email at crazyliblady@gmail.com
